OLD TIMBERLINE -
A private, gated community located in beautiful Canaan Valley. You have access to both Spruce Island Lake and Sand Run Lake in Timberline to canoe and fish at (swimming prohibited by the HOA) and access to the Dolly Sods Wilderness Area.
You will be staying in a private, gated community. Please have a list of everyone that will be staying in the house (first & last names) and vehicle information. A guard house form will be given to you at check-in for you to put the information on that you will give to the guards.

Becky was excellent during booking and check in. She responded to my questions quickly, was polite, and included detailed instructions. She also sent me important reminders for required documentation. I checked in past 5 PM and she had the house keys waiting in a box outside the office. Outstanding service!

The property was excellent. It was clean, comfortable, all of the appliances and electronics worked well. I loved the hot tub and the view of the lake and cabin mountain. The kitchen was fully stocked and we were able to prepare all of our meals in the house. Being steps from the lake and hiking trails was also great. This has been my best stay in Canaan Valley and I look forward to staying at this property again.

The house was beautiful! The property was amazing the pictures don't do it justice. The fire pit is surrounded by grass now not dirt. The view is breath taking. Our dogs had an amazing time, although they couldn't go to the water due to the mud because of the rain. And it was chilly for them to get hosed off. But they loved the property and house. The dogs loved the dog door and fenced area!!!! Our boys loved the canoe and they fished every day for hours. We couldn't of had a better trip and loved the house!!!! Extremely relaxing trip! Thank you!

Friends of the Cheat staff enjoyed our time in the valley, reflecting on successes of the past year and looking towards the future. The view of Cabin Mountain and the wildlife around Sand Lake kept us content when the snow turned to rain. Lots of games were played by the beautiful fireplace while sharing food and drink. This place was fantastic. We love that we can bring our complete family (dog included) to this beautiful part of the country. The price is right. Everything else is just a bonus :-) The view was amazing! And, as tiny as it sounds, the dog door...it's nice that a vacation home is set up for our furry friends too.

We have been coming to the general Davis/Canaan Valley area for many years, and usually stay with another rental group, whom we also love. We were nervous about straying from what we know so well, but our usual spot was booked, so we tried Mountaintop. We could not have been more impressed. Perfectly clean, especially for a pet friendly cabin, well maintained, very homey, and a beautiful setting. The trails to the lake were perfect, and not too challenging to manage with a group of four kids under four. We will definitely be back!

Alpine Sunrise provided us with the Zen vacation we sought. The location with a amazing view of the lake and mountains was incredibly quiet and peaceful. Sand Run Trail is a lovely, meditative walk, and the wildlife around the lake is impressive. We felt instantly at home in this property, and we have already booked it for next year. We greatly appreciate being allowed to bring our canine children with us. Canaan Valley is a VERY special place that we have been visiting for 28 years.
