Becoming an Outdoors Woman

WV Division of Natural Resources and Canaan Valley Resort invite you to attend this spring workshop designed primarily for women (ages 18 and older) to become more competent in, more confident in and more aware of the outdoors. This workshop is designed to encourage women interested in learning outdoor skills to explore and ask questions about a variety of outdoor activities in a comfortable, non-threatening atmosphere. Skills include hunting, shooting and fishing, plus much more. Workshop fee includes registration, instruction in all sessions, program materials, use of demonstration equipment, lodging, transportation to and from sessions, and some meals. The scenic chairlift rides-every Saturday and Sunday 10am until 5pm. Explore and hike the Dolly Sods National Wilderness Area. Scenic chairlift rides will be available May 23rd, 24th and 25th. Timberline stables will be open daily with guided trail rides. Bike Shop will be open daily. Breakfast, lunch and dinner served daily. Timbers Pub and Fireside Grill is open every day all year with Friday shrimp special, award winning ribs on Saturday and a daily full menu. Expect volleyball tournaments and weekend entertainment.

Annual Summer Rhythm and Blues Weekend
June 4-6
Friday evening and Saturday night. There is no cover charge for any performance. Scenic chairlift rides every weekend. Ride the lift to 4,268 feet summit and hike on the most spectacular trails in the East. The bike shop and Timberline’s riding stables open daily. Experience the network of the expanded biking trails at Timberline Four Seasons Resort.
7th Annual off-road ATV/Motor Bike Race
June 11-12
The first summer ATV and motor bike race and the associated festivities start Friday evening, June 11. The Friday evening event entertainment will be rock and variety music at 8pm. The event continues all day Saturday with early morning breakfast at the Fireside Grill upstairs at the ski lodge and food, entertainment and scenic chair lift rides throughout the day. Food and beverage will be served on the deck or in the lodge all day. One of the area’s top bands will perform at Timbers Pub Saturday June 12th 9pm – 1am. Join us at the area’s biggest rock party! Early Summer Western Weekend Celebration and Laurel Mountain Trail Rides
June 18-19
High altitude mountain trail rides over this portion of West Virginia’s Allegheny Mountains. Expect to see mountain laurel in bloom at the higher elevations (about 4,000 feet). Timberline stables will be open daily or bring your own horses. There is ample room to park horse trailers on the resort property at the base of the mountain. Friday and Saturday- live western and country music on the deck of the main lodge. Square dancing and dance instruction both evenings. Barbeque ribs with all the fixings will be served on the deck or inside Timber’s Pub. Guests are encouraged to wear western style dress. Packed lunches can be provided upon request.

Bluegrass Festival Weekend

This weekend features afternoon and early evening bluegrass performances at Timberline Resort. Up-tempo celebrations in Timber’s Pub will continue until late at night both Friday and Saturday.
Independence Weekend Celebration

Attach your bike and ride the chairlift for high altitude bike riding or experience the new biking trail network for lower altitude bike trails. Fireside Grill opens daily for lunch or dinner outdoors and Timbers Pub open daily with late night food and beverage. Timberline Stables open daily for trail riding. Live entertainment in Timbers Pub 8pm, July 3rd & 4th. There is no cover charge.
Annual Summer Celtic Music Weekend
July 9-10
Enjoy Celtic music presented by recognized artists from the area playing traditional Irish songs; both vocal and instrumental renditions will be presented on fiddle, mandolin, and Debro guitar. Featured Celtic artists will be Pete Tenney and Blaine Stevens appearing both Friday and Saturday evening. These artists will present a vast background and full repertoire of Celtic music.

Regional Chili Cook-off

Join us for our annual Smokin' in the Valley Chili Cook-off. Sanctioned by the International Chili Society. The cookoff will begin at 10:15 am, following a 9:30 am cook's meeting. The awards ceremony will take place around 4pm. Cash prizes awarded.
Bring on the HEAT - enjoy a packed day of cooking and tasting. Traditional Red, Chili Verde and Salsa included, plus People's Choice. Artist and crafters will display their wares throughout the day. Lunch to be served in the pavilion. Entertainment tbd.
