Just under one mile drive to Timberline Mountain Lodge or approximately 550 yard walk from Golden Bear Inn to the Tunnel on Winterset Trail.

Golden Bear Inn is a three bedroom duplex with a loft. Off the master bedroom and the family room is a deck with a four person hot tub. In the family area is a wood burning fireplace and cable TV. Off the dining area is another larger deck with gas and charcoal grill and comfortable furniture.
The house is supplied with linens and cookware. All you need is food and yourself. We enjoy it most for the opportunity of hiking with our dogs. Trails begin immediately behind the house. A riding stable is about 300 yards from the house. Less than 200 yards away is a tennis court and pond.
This home is 6 miles from the Canaan Valley Resort and Ski Area. Whitegrass Cross Country Skiing is 5.5 miles away. We cannot control weather and skiing conditions.

Omgoodness, I can't say enough wonderful things about Becky!! She was the best! I told her what our needs were and she gave us two great options. I'm sure the other option was also impressive but Golden Bear Inn was absolutely our dream place. Becky was patient while I decided, I called her back the next day with my decision and she did not rush or pressure me. I told her our needs and she delivered!! On the day we arrived I also talked with a different great lady too. She texted me the directions and what a blessing. We were running late and she was still there at 5:10 to hand us our keys etc. I'm sorry I didn't catch her name though. On the day we checked out Becky was again great, we booked it for a stay next June also. She was also going to try to find a smaller cheaper rental if I wanted to getaway by myself in the future.

we have been coming to Canaan Valley over 30 years for family reunions and owned different properties there at different times. WoodsEnd is great because each family unit can have their own space to retreat back to, and we are all together during the day for events, hikes, fishing and big dinners! Love bringing our dogs as well.

Mountaintop members were responsive, kind, and helpful throughout the process. The arrival and departure plan with Covid was easy and efficient. Overall, great experience! We had a water heat issue and a member responded in less than an hour to our needs. It has been about 8-9 years or so since we last visited and we will return soon. We love the area and all the beautiful snow that we don't receive in norther VA. :) Keep up the great job.
